ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Kurds are one of the  of the most ancient nation of the world, which has a rich history and original culture, and their struggle for independence dates back centuries. All this is reflected in modern Kurdish cinema, which is rapidly developing and gaining popularity not only among national diasporas. 

 

In 2021, the first Moscow Kurdish Film Festival was successfully held, and in 2022 the second festival won the hearts of the audience. Now we are looking forward to our third edition, which will be held from 12 to 19 October 2023 in Moscow.

The expectation of this important cultural event is growing every day. An exciting program awaits the audience, including premiere screenings of unique documentaries, feature films and short films, selected from the best works of international filmmakers. Each film will be presented in its original language with Russian subtitles to immerse viewers in Kurdish culture and history.

Moscow Kurdish Film Festival continues to promote cinema as an important art form and a powerful tool for social change. This event not only supports and develops Kurdish culture, but also provides an opportunity for numerous Kurdish and non-Kurdish artists and filmmakers to share their stories and talents with audiences in Russia.

Moscow Kurdish Film Festival is becoming more and more popular among film fans and connoisseurs of culture, and we are pleased to invite everyone to this unforgettable cinematic meeting with Kurdish art.

The festival is included by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in the list of international film festivals held in the Russian Federation for 2023.
